CARTRIDGE STATIC MIXERS
Static (motionless) mixing is proven technology. The device consists
of a series of internal baffles or elements within a plastic nozzle. As
the two component are pumped through the mixer, they are progressively
divided and recombined providing efficient in-line mixing. Ratio-Pak
static mixers are equipped with bell housing inlets designed for rapid
leak-proof attachment to the cartridge outlet with a reusable plastic
retaining nut.
Part A and Part B component materials do not meet until they enter
the mixer. Waiting time is minimal, allowing for the mixing of very fast
cure or highly reactive, as well as slower curing products without
premature setup and waste. Clean-up requires only removing the mixer and
wiping of the cartridge outlet. When wiping, care should be taken to
ensure that the two components are not cross contaminated. The
cartridges can be re-sealed with the reusable D-style plugs. The
remaining cartridge contents can be saved for later use.
Users should experiment with mixer diameters, lengths and number of
elements until the correct mix intensity, cure schedule and flow rate is
achieved. Mixers with larger diameters and fewer elements provide faster
flow and less back-pressure.
Static mixing technology is extremely reliable and "user
friendly". For additional information or assistance on proper
