HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

HEALTH EFFECTS

Swallowed:
Possible nausea, vomiting and depression of the central nervous system. May cause intestinal blockage and abdominal pains. May burn mouth and throat.

Eye:
Will cause moderate to severe eye irritation. May also cause chemical burns if left in contact.

Skin:
May cause moderate to severe skin irritation. May cause superficial burns to skin. Prolonged or repeated exposures may cause dermatitis.

Inhaled:
Vapour irritating to mucous membranes, respiratory tract. Inhalation of high vapour concentrations can cause dizziness, impaired judgement and if prolonged - unconsciousness.

FIRST AID If any adverse reaction occurs transport IMMEDIATELY to hospital or doctor.

Swallowed:
Do not induce vomiting without medical direction to do so. Give water to rinse mouth and two glasses to drink. If symptoms persist seek prompt medical assistance.

Eye:
Immediately: Hold eyelids open and flush eye for 15 minutes with water. Ensure inside of eyelid is flushed. If symptoms persist seek prompt medical attention.

Skin:
Remove contaminated clothing and footwear (while under safety shower if appropriate). Flush affected area with water for 5 minutes followed by washing with soap and water for a further 5 minutes. Rinse well and pat dry. If symptoms persist seek prompt medical assistance.

Inhaled:
Remove patient to fresh air (use respirator or Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) if concentration is high). Allow to rest. Provide artificial respiration if breathing stops. Treat for shock if required. Seek prompt medical assistance unless recovery is virtually immediate.

Chronic:
No confirmed data.

First Aid Facility:
Provide normal industrial first aid facilities, including eye wash stations and safety showers as appropriate.

Advice to Doctor:
Provide supportive care and treatment based on the Doctor's judgement of the patients reactions. Product is corrosive but superficial burns will only result after prolonged contact or on individuals with particularly sensitive skin. ENGINEERING CONTROLS

Use in a well ventilated area. Provide mechanical ventilation if required to keep workplace below the exposure standard set.

PERSONAL PROTECTION

Respiratory Protection:
If vapour concentrations are high or exceed the Exposure Standards use respirator or Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) to AS 1715 and AS 1716.

Eye Protection:
Use goggles to AS 1337 when mixing, decanting or using.

Gloves:
Wear solvent-resistant gloves complying with AS 2161.

Clothing:
Wear Tyvec or cotton overalls fastened at the neck and wrist.

Industrial Hygiene:
Follow normal industrial/chemical hygiene practices.

FLAMMABILITY

Product is non-flammable but may react dangerously if heated above 55°C.

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION

STORAGE AND TRANSPORT

Store in a cool, dry and well ventilated area away from oxidising agents. Storage temperature must be kept below 45°C. Transport as UN 3108 Class 5.2 PG II in accordance with the Australian Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code and Regulations, the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code or the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods (DG) Regulations as applicable to mode of transport. Ensure packages are not left in direct sunlight while in transit.

SPILLS AND DISPOSAL

Scrape up, then mix in normal ratio with resin product to allow curing. Cured materials are non-hazardous and may be dumped as land fill.

FIRE/EXPLOSION HAZARD

Fire may produce irritating or poisonous gases. Heat may cause violent rupture of containers.

DANGEROUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS

Carbon dioxide and monoxide, hydrocarbons and other toxic by-products may be produced during combustion.

SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING RECOMMENDATIONS

Keep uninvolved containers cool with water spray. Contain run-off for later collection and controlled disposal.

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA

Water delivered as fog or fine spray.

PRECAUTIONS

Wear Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and full turn-out dress. Avoid contact with product or run off.

OTHER INFORMATION

ENVIRONMENTAL FATE

Is toxic to all aquatic organisms. Will adversely affect water quality. Will slowly biodegrade leaving excess silica. Not expected to cause environmental problems unless dumped in large quantities (unlikely event).
