USE

Resin portion of two part, fast setting, heat resistant adhesive and filler. Designed for use with hardener portion of Starter Bar Polyester Grout TP.

HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

HEALTH EFFECTS

Swallowed:
May cause nausea and vomiting. May seriously affect the central nervous system.

Eye:
Will cause moderate to severe eye irritation.

Skin:
May cause moderate to severe skin irritation. Prolonged or repeated exposures may lead to allergic contact dermatitis.

Inhaled:
Vapour irritating to mucous membranes, respiratory tract. Inhalation of high vapour concentrations can cause dizziness, impaired judgement and if prolonged - unconsciousness.

FIRST AID

If any adverse reaction occurs transport IMMEDIATELY to hospital or doctor.

Swallowed:
Do not induce vomiting. Seek urgent medical assistance. Rinse mouth with water and give two glasses of water to drink. If patient involuntarily vomits, encourage to lean forward to avoid aspirating vomitus into lungs.

Eye:
Immediately: Hold eyelids open and flush eye for 15 minutes with water. Ensure inside of eyelid is flushed. If symptoms persist seek prompt medical attention.

Skin:
Remove contaminated clothing and footwear (while under safety shower if appropriate). Flush affected area with water for five (5) minutes followed by washing with soap and water for a further five (5) minutes. Rinse well and pat dry. If symptoms persist seek prompt medical assistance.

Inhaled:
Remove patient to fresh air (use respirator or Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) if concentration is high). Allow to rest. Provide artificial respiration if breathing stops. Treat for shock if required. Seek prompt medical assistance unless recovery is virtually immediate.

Chronic:
No reports were found of chronic ill health related to this product. Prolonged or repeated skin exposure may cause dermatitis. Prolonged inhalation exposures may lead to adverse effects on the central nervous system.

First Aid Facility:
Provide normal industrial first aid facilities, including eye wash stations and safety showers as appropriate.

Advice to Doctor:
Provide supportive care and treatment based on the patients reactions.

ENGINEERING CONTROLS

Use in well ventilated areas. Provide comfort level ventilation supplemented as necessary with mechanical ventilation to ensure that exposures are minimised.

PERSONAL PROTECTION

Respiratory Protection

If concentrations are high or exceed the Exposure Standards use respirator to AS 1715 and AS 1716. In confined spaces use Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).

Eye Protection

Use goggles to AS 1337 when mixing, decanting or using.

Gloves

Wear solvent-resistant gloves complying with AS 2161.

Clothing

Wear Tyvec or cotton overalls fastened at the neck and wrist.

Industrial Hygiene

Follow normal industrial/chemical hygiene practices.

FLAMMABILITY

Uncured resin component contains styrene monomer and is flammable. Flash Point 31ºC. Cured product is non-flammable

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION

STORAGE AND TRANSPORT

Store in accordance with AS 1940-93 and local regulations. Keep away from heat, oxidisers and potential ignition sources. Transport as UN 1866 Class 3 PG III in accordance with the Australian Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code and Regulations, the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code or the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods (DG) Regulations as applicable to mode of transport.

SPILLS AND DISPOSAL

Switch off or remove all potential ignition sources. Prevent product entering drains or waterways. Wear full portative clothing including rubber boots and respirator. Cover pool with sand, soil or other inert absorbent. Shovel into clean containers. Seal lids, label and place containers in a safe area to await disposal according to local regulations. If working indoors ventilate area thoroughly before re-starting work.

FIRE/EXPLOSION HAZARD

Base liquid and vapour are flammable. Fire may produce irritating or poisonous gases. Heat may cause violent rupture of containers.

DANGEROUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS

Carbon dioxide and monoxide, hydrocarbons and other organic by-products may be produced during combustion.

SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING RECOMMENDATIONS

Keep uninvolved containers cool with water spray. Contain run-off for later collection and controlled disposal.

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA

Foam, sand, dry chemical or water delivered as fog.

PRECAUTIONS

Wear Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and full turn-out dress. Avoid contact with product or run off.

OTHER INFORMATION

Styrene has shown limited carcinogenic effect on mice exposed to large concentrations. Not considered relevant for normal industrial exposure however, exposure should be minimised to reduce any possible risk.

ENVIRONMENTAL FATE

Due to nature of product and quantities available during normal use or transport this product does not pose a serious environmental threat.
